I bought a new GoPro HD video cam at the Outdoor Retailer show a few weeks ago.

Erica and I took it to the streets last weekend. We ended up with some pretty sweet footage and a nice photo.

Amidst all of the stand up paddleboards, five-toe/low-profile active footwear, scads of water bottles, minimalist backpacking gear and cool new apparel, I found my favorite piece of free swag  – a sticker from “Leave No Trace.” I should have guessed the sasquatch was a steward of the outdoors.

2010 brings us to the 87th year of Laconia Motorcycle Week. More than 400,000 people visit Laconia each year and it’s a pretty crazy event. It’s not as crazy as Sturgis or Daytona, but it is in New England.

If you notice a bunch of motorcycles on the road around June 12 through 20, now you know why. I’ll be looking twice, but I’m usually checking out the bikes.

I like Jeff Bridges. I can’t say I watched him in “Against All Odds” or “Tron” or most of the 78 (just a guess) other movies in which he’s acted. This said, I loved him in “The Big Lebowski.” The Coen brothers wrote an outstanding character and Jeff Bridges delivered a great performance.

When I saw the first “Crazy Heart” trailer I knew I had to see the film. It felt like this character fit Jeff Bridges and vice versa. While the movie had its tragic moments and Hollywood ending, I wasn’t disappointed by Jeff’s performance.  He turned in a beauty. Congratulations, Dude.

The Academy also made a fine choice with their “Actor in a Supporting Role” award. Christopher Waltz nearly stole the show in “Inglorious Basterds.”

Finally, if you haven’t seen “Up” you should grab it on Netflix or at redbox. If you make it through the opening 15-20 minutes without a lump in your throat, you’re a robot.

If you watched any halfpipe action during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, you probably had your eyes glued to a slew of helmets designed by tool. Shaun White, Hannah Teter, Scott Lago and Kelly Clark wore their RED helmets (designed by tool.) all the way to the podium. Congratulations Team USA!
