Leg Brace

This surgical leg brace was created by tool. for an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine expert. Designed to aid in the positioning of a patient’s leg during minimally-invasive surgeries, the surgical leg brace not only makes bracing to the operation table quicker but offers greater means of adjustment. The padding system, meant to clamp down on the patient’s leg and limit movement, can also accommodate a tourniquet which prevents excessive bleeding. Made of aluminum, its structure is engineered to make it much lighter then other competitive products, so it is less cumbersome. FEA analysis was utilized to ensure that this lighter construction could hold up to the rigors of orthopedic surgery. All of the materials were chosen to allow for autoclave sterilization.

Overall it is not only lighter, stronger, and easier to use, but streamlines orthopedic surgery by helping to de-clutter the work environment. This allows for less time in surgery, making recovery that much easier for the patient.
