Marblehead High School Senior Projects

Over the past couple of months, TOOL has mentored a pair of talented Marblehead high schoolers on their senior projects. They were tasked with designing, modeling, and prototyping solutions to relatively simple problems in an area of interest to them. We were honored to coach them through a portion of our process to teach them some foundational skills and to help them understand how a product idea can be brought to life. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of their projects had to be coordinated virtually; nonetheless, both students excelled at collaborating with us through Slack channels and Zoom meetings and were able to generate some exceptional work! We had a blast helping them model, render, and print their designs and are happy to share their work with you.

Cole  – Hiking Stick Handle with Built-In Compass

Cole designed a handle that could be universally installed on any wooden hiking stick. The handle incorporates a wrist strap and a built-in compass for navigation. He iterated various solutions for attaching the handle before arriving at a collet system that tightens around the stick while allowing for variability in stick sizes.

Maja – iPhone 11 phone / AirPod case:

Maja designed an all-in-one case for her iPhone and AirPods that incorporated magnetics in the edges for easier installation. She also added magnets in the AirPod pocket to snap her airpods in and out with ease.

Congratulations to both Cole and Maja on successful senior projects, and we wish you the best of luck on your future undergraduate plans!

Cheers.
