The Bulwark is a conceptual football helmet made up of several major assemblies to offer a unique and customizable aesthetic while providing a novel way to isolate and dissipate impact energy before it reaches the player’s head.
Tool took an idea by JC Wingo and Michael Princip and developed it into a manufacturable state so that it could be tested at an impact lab using realistic materials and methods. To that end, we employed several rounds of development including focused brainstorms on a variety of functional and manufacturing challenges, iterative design, and mechanical engineering.
Utilizing these development efforts and generated IP, Wingo/Princip was able to carry the design into Schutt Sports where the concept was turned into the Schutt F7.
